Bugsy Siegel and a Borrowed Suit
The story of my family business is one filled with rich heritage and deep roots in the Las Vegas area. My parents, Jack and Dorothy Gill, came to Las Vegas in the early 1940’s. They pledged their wedding vows at the world-renowned Little Church of the West, which had recently been built in 1941. My father’s employer (and close friend) was the iconic mobster, Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel. How close were they? Jack worked right by Bugsy’s side to help launch the infamous Flamingo Hotel and Casino. On my parent’s wedding day, Bugsy lent my father a suit so he could get married in style.
A New Beginning
After a brief period away, my parents moved back to Las Vegas in 1955 where my father spent many years as a partner and sales representative for a successful printing facility. In 1972, my parents and I started the family-owned and operated Gill’s Printing and Business Forms, Inc. From the beginning, our mission was to provide customers the highest quality services in a timely fashion and at a competitive price. We promptly hired a team of sales representatives to solicit our business and build customer relationships. I am proud to say that many of these relationships still exist today and are stronger than ever.
Partnerships for Success
My sister, JoAnn Gill Grady, joined the business in 1982 and is a Partner in our company. With JoAnn’s invaluable contributions, our family made the decision to partner with another business forms manufacturer out of Phoenix, Arizona. This strategic alliance allowed us to better serve our core line of business, which was printing general business forms. Now, we could offer customers an even higher quality service, more competitive pricing and a diversified product line of services that were relatively hard to get in those days.
A Future in 4-Color
In 1998, Gill’s Printing and Business Forms, Inc. expanded our operations yet again by acquiring Southwest Color Graphics, a Las Vegas-based, 4-color commercial printer. The acquisition allowed us to further diversify our services to include high-quality, 4-color print capabilities. We then consolidated our printing facility, fulfillment warehouse and Southwest Color Graphics into one company, Gill’s Printing and Color Graphics. The benefits of the buyout went far beyond acquiring state-of-the-art equipment or an expanded product line. More importantly, we gained an experienced, dedicated group of seasoned technicians and knowledgeable office staff. My family has always been proud of our products, services and technology, but nothing compares to the pride we have in our staff.
Gill’s Delivers with Mail Xpress
The new Gill’s Printing and Color Graphics strategically relocated our business within one block of the main Bulk Mail Center (BMC) here in Las Vegas and promptly acquired equipment to add direct mail printing to our product line, including lettershop, digital printing, and 4-color variable print capabilities. Not to mention, the sophisticated technology to offer direct mailing services. We formed a separate company, Mail Xpress, and began providing direct mail services to the gaming industry with a focus on casino loyalty programs, player marketing and development. Over the last 15 years, I am proud to share that Mail Xpress is in great demand and serves customers throughout a wide range of industries. Most notably, we hold exclusive contract mailing services status with UNLV, in addition to serving as their preferred print provider.
A Family beyond Bloodlines
Throughout the years, we’ve been grateful for the additional family members who have joined our team. Heather Saunders, Senior Customer Service Representative always ensures clients receive the attention they deserve. Our Production Supervisor, Justin Gill, closely monitors the factory floor making sure the final product exceeds customer expectations. Yet, the Gill’s definition of “family” goes far beyond bloodlines. Geri Spain, our Partner and Comptroller, is invaluable to our organization. Although not related by blood, we consider her much more than family and couldn’t do what we do without her. Those same feelings go toward our great group of dedicated employees, many of whom have been with us for as long as 30 years.

My family is proud to have worked with countless major casino operations, educational institutions, law firms, restaurants, conference centers and many more throughout the years. Our success is based on listening to the needs of our customers and continuously diversifying our services to meet their demands. In 2010, we entered the promotional products industry by offering a full-line of promotional products. Most recently, we have begun offering Convention and Tradeshow Services to assist local conference centers and event attendees from around the world. Needless to say, our customers couldn’t be happier and we know you’ll feel the same.
Victor started Gill’s Printing with his parents in 1972. His father was well established in the Las Vegas market, serving the hospitality industry. When his previous company was sold, it allowed him to form a family business. Over many years, Gill’s established a profile specializing in complete print fulfillment and digital mail campaigns for a variety of businesses and their applications.
Gill’s staff prides itself in preplanning campaigns and identifying potential problems a client may encounter in planning a project without professional guidance. Many clients have acknowledged Gill’s expertise and professionalism in the print community.
Victor has worked with many Fortune 500 companies, major casinos, financial, health and general businesses, helping them create and execute projects to promote new business and help maintain customer loyalty programs. He has also helped them analyze ongoing print expenses and make recommendations on how they can reduce cost, yet maintain their images and internal controls.
For years Victor has been solving customer’s needs in managing their overall printing expenses and making recommendations on how they may save time and money, along with helping create projects that generate revenue through design, print, mail services and how we may promote interest and loyalty in their company with our promotional products division.
With many years of experience in this field, Victor brings his expertise to aid all current and future customers with any potential ideas that they have to promote their business. Gill’s has achieved many awards over the years — too numerous to list. All of Gill’s employees are professionally trained and certified in their fields. With that said, the real reward is Gill’s professional employees.
Growing up in Las Vegas, a graduate from Bishop Gorman High School, a trained professional dancer for more than 20 years, has afforded JoAnn Gill-Grady a vast and open background with a unique prospective and insight into the wants and needs of professionals in the hospitality and gaming industries. These two markets (which are often unlike any other) comprise a large part of Gill’s Printing’s customer base, and therefore made JoAnn an immediate positive impact when she joined the family business in 1982.
She has enjoyed many successes during her career in the print industry. From sales person to sales manager, to Vice President/Owner, JoAnn is a valued asset to her clientele, co-workers and staff. She has taken the lead in building and maintaining quality client relationships, doing her homework and championing the highest levels of communication and partnerships.
JoAnn is a member of the Woman Presidents’ Organization (WPO) and enjoys working together with other women to grow their businesses. Gill’s is a team-oriented company that values service, dependability and continually strives to build solid relationships and integrity.
Growing up, Heather was always helping with different projects with the family business and learning the trade. As a senior at Bishop Gorman High School she started as a Behavioral Intervention Therapist for Autism and continued that career for 8 years when she decided to come back to the family business full time. For the last 10 years, she worked her way up through different positions in the company. Heather’s current position as Senior Director of Business Development suits her and she enjoys serving some of Gill’s larger casino accounts and other corporate entities with multiple locations.
Her expertise is in combination print and mail projects with deadlines that require constant updates on postal regulations. Heather is also proficient in project planning and design in customer promotional marketing pieces.
Her passion for the business is driven by the direct communication and personal contacts she has made over the years and making her clients happy.
As a third generation print professional, Justin Gill has been in all facets of the industry, starting when he was sixteen driving the delivery truck, property to property, understanding the importance of a deadline. From there he helped his family in any way needed, from order entry all the way through to shipping, he has done it all. After taking a small hiatus from the industry and gaining a degree in the automotive field, Justin came back to the Gill’s family business. Shortly after he worked his way up to print production manager and with both print and technical background, he is always eager to help and overcome any obstacles that may arise.
Geri moved to Las Vegas in 1983 and started working in the accounting department for a company that specialized in color separations for the printing industry. She quickly moved up to become the office manager.
In 1998, Gill’s purchased the company and Geri was promoted to her current position as comptroller. She takes pride in her professionalism with our customers and employees. Geri excels in strategizing, projects, audits, bid preparations, documentations and also works with human resources.
